Welcome to
Hotel Gletscherblick
Reach for the sky! Our favorite hikes for true peak conquerors!
There are few natural experiences as intense as climbing to the summit of a majestic mountain. The ascent demands endurance and determination, but the reward is always overwhelming: a breathtaking view and the uplifting feeling of having the world at your feet.
We love the mountains and their summits! Not only our family but also Chef Paul and the Gletscherblick team can be found on hikes and summit tours. Each of us values different aspects: Johanna and Sophia particularly appreciate the breathtaking views, while Sandra loves the beauty of nature. Chef Paul is rarely seen on well-known paths; he often hikes off the track to remote lakes and steep trails.
Here, we've compiled our favorite tours for peak conquerors and those who aspire to be:
Malatschkopf
- 2.388 m -
A tour from Pettneu to Malatschkopf in the Lechtal Alps is perfect for experienced peak conquerors. The summit is located east of the Kaiserjochhaus on the way to the Ansbacher Hütte.
The tour begins on easy trails passing by the Nessleralm and the historic Alte Nessler Thaja. The Alte Thaja provides insights into the alpine life of the herders from over 40 years ago. From here, follow the marked and increasingly steeper paths up to the Kaiserjochhaus, where the approximately 30-minute ascent to Malatschkopf begins. After a refreshment, follow Trail E4 towards Ansbacher Hütte and, after a few hundred meters, turn off according to the signs. You will reach the summit via a partially secured ridge walk in rocky terrain. Surefootedness and a head for heights are essential.
Samspitze
- 2.624 m-
One of the possible routes to Samspitze starts in the village of Schnann, at the Schnanner Klamm. After experiencing the impressive gorge, follow the path towards Fritzhütte, where refreshing drinks and a small lake await you. From there, follow the signs towards Ansbacher Hütte. Situated on the southeastern slope of Samspitze in the Lechtal Alps, the hut already offers a fantastic view of the Stanzertal and the Verwall Group. From here, you can reach the Samspitze in about 45 minutes.
Alternatively, from Ansbacher Hütte, you can reach the lower Stierkopf at 2,589 meters in 30 minutes
Wirt
- 2.339 m -
This relatively easy-to-reach summit is particularly suitable for those with little summit experience or for those who don't want to undertake a full-day hike.
The tour starts in St. Christoph and initially follows the Berggeistweg. From there, you will deviate from the path, following signs and markings to reach the summit cross after approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. The return route follows the same path, allowing you to fully enjoy the beauty of the landscape.
Alternatively, after descending from the summit, you can follow the Berggeistweg to Kaltenberghütte. After a refreshment, you can return to St. Christoph either via the Berggeistweg (about 4 hours) or the Paul-Bantlin-Weg (about 2 hours).
Whether you're an experienced peak conqueror or aspiring to become one, the St. Anton mountain world offers many summit hikes for various levels of difficulty. We are already enchanted by the stunning views of the Stanzertal and the beauty of nature!
We look forward to hearing about your summit stories and seeing your photos online!
